Busy Bees and Tweedle Dees

I think I mentioned this to y'all but we were in Birmingham for TEN DAYS at the end of July through the beginning of August. We went because my MIL was having her birthday celebration there, my immediate family is all there, and we decided to make a time of it by having Emma's third birthday there, too. It was much easier this way since no one had to drive to Atlanta on a Friday (yuck!) and I didn't have to clean and prep MY house (yay!)

We kicked off the first weekend there with a lovely celebration for my MIL, FeFe, at a delicious dinner spot in Brookwood called Brio's. It is SO GOOD and I'm so sad we don't have one over here. BUT. That's probably a good thing since we all ate ourselves sick on bread, wedge salad, and delicious main dishes! The next day, MIL's besties threw her a themed Alice in Wonderland tea party for girl's only and it was hilarious and awesome. Two words. Costume Party. For grown women. Hahahahaha! MIL was the Queen of Hearts, Eve was Alice, Jamie was the mad hatter, my mom was the rabbit, Scarlet and Emma were miniature queens, and Sarah and I were......................

Yes. This happened in real life. (Stolen from sissy's blog)

While we were brainstorming what we could be without breaking the bank on a costume, Sarah came up with this. And it was genius. All we bought/made were the hats and bow ties. And a bag of pillow stuffing to create our awesome guts. It was pretty rad.

The following week brought lots of playtime, party prep, and Emma's first two days of school! Emma crashed Scarlet's school and had a lot of fun!

Sweet cousins!

Then, Scarlet got "croup" and all hell broke loose. My kids started coming down with "it" on Thursday. With Emma's party on Saturday. Yikes. I use quotes because I'm not convinced that Scarlet or my kids had it. I think it was an upper respiratory infection. No one was coughing all night, wet bark style. We are STILL getting over whatever is going on over a week later!

Friday was cray cray. I had booked a cut and color with my stylist cousin, Mo. Y'all. My hair was SO LONG. It was like middle of my back long. I couldn't take it. I told Mo to do something good. She gave me a darker, richer color and cut it to my shoulders. I love it! And it takes 15 minutes to dry and fix!

After the hair appointment, I went to get Emma from school so I could take both kids to the doctor. Alone. Out of town. That was fun. Luckily my mom and sis met me up there to entertain while I filled out 85849409 pages of paperwork. After they went home and napped, I got busy cleaning, organizing, cooking, and decorating. Lots to do! And I couldn't do it all yet because all three kids would be up to destroy things.

We all worked together (thank you so much sis, brother, momma, FeFe, GiGi, Eve, and Jamie!!) to help make Emma's birthday a wonderful, laid back success! That post will have to be next! This is getting long!

Visitors!

This weekend, my mom and sis came to visit. We always have a blast, and this weekend was no exception. With two little girls under two, good times were had! Even if my kid was saying, "Mine" all weekend!

Here are some shots from our fun day in the water on Saturday!

Is this child not beautiful? Miss Scarlet is 14 months old now!

Looby showing her how to play in the water table.

I'm gonna spray you!!

Gimme!

We had a great time, even though Scarlet developed an ear infection!
In addition to playing outside with the water, we went to consignment stores, garage sales, and grocery stores. We ate and drank entirely  too much! But, what else is new? We got a lot of good gifts/toys for the girls' Christmas at the consignment/garage sales!
We will see y'all in two weeks for Emma's birthday party!

Oh, how I've missed you!!!

Hey guys, have I missed you! I have actually received comments on people missing my blogging! I love it! I have been such a busy lady-I went back to work on the 30th, and its been nonstop since then! Here is a brief update in pictures, and I promise, once I get it together at work, regular blogging will resume. Also, check out one of my besties new blogs, Mrs. First Time Mommy! She is a hoot! I also have several reviews to do for some FAB goodies I got for Emma and myself!! Stay tuned-that will be later this week! Emma will be three months old tomorrow, so her normal three month post will be happening then. Until I get all of those posts together, check out what we've been up to in pictures!

Mommy going to the gym and be-bopping around with me in my Baby Bjorn. Mommy is still going to WW and shamefully she only lost .8 pounds last week. She is staying strong though!
Daddy thinks this is hilarious.

My pregnant Aunt Sissy! This is so exciting! She is 13 weeks!!

Aunt Sissy gave Emma a monogrammed tutu and precious silver paci clip for her baptism. Check it out! Mommy ordered Emma some T strap "shoes" from Trumpette.
She is so Sex and the City!

Woah dude! You are freaking me out!

Uncle Brother and his skeleton girl!

Daddy with "Memma Lou," as our friend calls Emma.

One set of godparents posing with Mommy and Daddy.
So, as you can see we have been super busy! Lots of people up in the house, going back to work, and just playing around! Emma is getting super big too! We go to the doctor on Thursday for her 3 month shots visit and I am anxious to know her weight and height. Emma is doing really well at her "daycare," and the caretaker is in LOVE with her. She is the youngest of 6 kids, and obviously one of the sweetest! Ha! Anyway, I will do more posting later-bear with me as I get adjusted to my new life as a "working mom."

What did you do this weekend?

Emily and Kiki

Kiki with Emma's "boggy"

Well, we had a full weekend at our house. On Saturday, my bestie Emily and her family came by to visit the baby on their way out of town. It was hysterical seeing their almost 2 year old around the baby. She was into EVERYTHING. Hubs asked Emily if she did this all the time-ha! Get ready for that one.

After they left, my parents arrived from Birmingham to hover love on Emma. I think they were here for all of 3 minutes before my mom had Emma in her arms. :D I had a list of things I wanted to do this weekend, and since my dad is SUPER ADD (seriously, he cannot sit still for more than 10 minutes) I knew we would get everything accomplished. First we (everyone but mom, since she was sucking the scent off Emma) cleaned out and organized the garage. My dad brought me a freezer for the garage, and we had to make room since the garage was such a disaster area. I loaded that thing up with probably about 39 gallons of breast milk. Awesome! After that, we were gross and tired, so we vegged the rest of the night.
On Sunday we were totally worthless but did venture out to a farmer's market for fresh corn to grill, and we went to Lowe's. I wanted to plant some herbs (read: dad), and we needed a spider bomb for the garage. In our cleaning the day before, we found all kinds of sick a** spiders that needed to die. After dad planted my herb garden, we had an incredible dinner. Husband smoked a Boston butt, and we made baked beans, grilled corn, and brother in law coleslaw. YUM! Since we were beached whales after dinner, all we could do was set off the bomb in the garage and watch TV. That night, my daughter decided to raise hell all night (get ready all you preggos!), so husband and I got all of 2 hours of sleep. She finally slowed her roll around 7 am, and I passed out till 10. Good times.
Monday morning my parents had to leave and while they were walking out and pulling out of the driveway, my mom stopped the car no less than 13 times to get out and come back and give Emma sugar. I told them to move up here, but you know, I think they like giving her back when they are done! :D I almost rolled Emma's bassinet into the guest room for my mom to get her fix. Anyway, we had such fun with the grandparents and I know they had a blast with their love nugget. I think the pics say it all! Hope you all had a wonderful Labor Day weekend!
