Book Reviews

Here are a few books that I have read and enjoyed lately on the Kindle:

Sarah's Key by Tatiana De Rosnay

This is a book about the French roundup of Jews during the war. I had never heard of this roundup by French police taking Jews to concentration camps (supposedly on orders of the German police). The roundup was called the Vel' d'Hiv.

This book was fasciniating. It was told in two perspectives-the Jewish child and the modern day journalist. I would highly recommend this book if you are interested in historical fiction. I went ahead and bought another book by her that is also historical fiction.

Obvi, this one is self explanatory. I jumped on the bandwagon late and loved it. I will go to the movie (most likely alone-fine by me) to see this before HME is born.

In case you live under a rock, this book explores circus life in the past (1940's) from the point of view of an elderly man. It is sad because he is so aged, but also because of the treatment of the precious animals.

It's not depressing, but it is sad. I couldn't put this book down. Can't wait to see Sexy Pattinson as the lead role of the movie.

This book was incredible. I picked it up at the wholesale club (hardcover for 11$, what what!) and it is similar to The Hunger Games. A society is "controlled" and manipulated and the people of the society are "matched" to their mates for life. It has a lot of conspiracy and good twists. This book is a set of a trilogy, but the next one doesn't come out until November (I think.) Very nice, new young adult series.

What are you reading right now?

  3. I'm still reading the Testament by John Grisham. I've got to get my butt away from the TV and read more.
