Y'ALL! Disaster in training!
Let me lay a scene for you.
Yesterday, the in laws came in town to look at a house. They were spending the night with us, so I picked up Chili's on the way home from work.
I must be the dumbest person alive. Why did I spend 10$ on the WW Dining Out Companion book if I never plan to use it.
I skimmed through the Chili's menu and decided not to blow it totally out but to get a small something I wanted/craved. I decided on the Buffalo Chicken Ranch sandwich. Some of you are shaking your heads right now like, "Girl, you are doomed!" And you would be right. But, back to the sandwich. It was a piece of fried chicken (oh, the humanity!) on a whole wheat bun with lettuce, tomato and hot sauce. No cheese or special sauce. It was served with a side of ranch.
I asked for double broccoli instead of fries. So, I was thinking, "OK, piece of fried chicken breast is the only 'bad' thing I am ingesting."
After eating it, I had husband look up the nutritional info for me so I could track it. I had estimated 15 points.
I want y'all to GUESS how many calories and fat grams were in this sandwich. I was BLOWN AWAY! Leave a comment with your guess.
I will reveal the answer later today or tomorrow morning. Please don't go look it up. Save your excitement for me to share the answer with you.
Let's just put it this way, I am out of my 'extra' points for the week, and I just got them yesterday.
Sometimes I question my brain power...............
Happy Friday!
Oh, I can only imagine ... I'm guessing there were at least 40 points in there. I remember the day I discovered how many points PF Changs honey chicken was ... also known as my favorite meal on earth. Too bad it's like 3 days worth of cals. Gah.
ReplyDeleteNot sure how the point system with WW works, but I am sure it was loaded with calories and fat grams. Was the flavor of the sandwich at least worth the extra points?
ReplyDeleteDon't know anything about "points" either---gotta be honest, don't really have a real gauge of calories in things either. What I do know is that I don't want to know. That's the only thing I get at Chilis...every.single.time. LOVE it!! I'd say it's taste is worth any extras and may have to make an effort not to read your next blog post. :-) Love ya!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to guess it's not in a 100 calorie pack? How about 400 calories? I watch Biggest Loser, I should know this stuff.
ReplyDeleteOh hm, fried chicken will probably be like 15 points, because you know they didn't give you only 4oz of chicken. And then the bun is 3 because it's probably not the high fiber kind, but maybe whole grain? And then you'll have the ranch on the side, which is probably 1/4 cup, but I don't know how much of it you used, so I'd say it's like 4 points? 22 points for the sandwich alone? And then the broccoli is probabably 5 points? So 27 for that meal alone?
ReplyDeleteBut if you have 35 extra points, and they're now gone, that means I'm underestimating, thus proving your point!!
XOXOX
If you will ever listen to me and watch Food Inc, you wont have any trouble staying away from food like that. There is alot more there to worry about than just calories! Trust me!
ReplyDeleteOh lordy, if it's from Chili's it has to be bad. I'm guessing about 900 calories for that sandwich and maybe 35 fat grams?
ReplyDeleteI once saw the nutrional information for their chicken fingers and almost threw up.
But don't worry about it. Today is a new day. Just be glad you're not one of the people who blindly eat that junk every single meal.
Hmmm... 790 calories and 25 grams of fat?
ReplyDeleteBut like others have said - don't beat yourself up. Sometimes you have to do a little splurge in order to keep from binging later.
Have you ever read the "Eat This, Not That" books? They are pretty interesting. Sometimes chicken sandwiches at restaurants/fast food places are worse for you than other non-chicken options!
48 grams of fat and 730 calories...I have no idea.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to guess 33 points.
ReplyDeleteFried chicken, probably heavily breaded & ranch. The sad thing about the restaurants is how awful things really are for us. I see stuff on msn all the time about how many calories are in salads & stuff. No wonder our country is so out of control.
But, it is a new day today & while it may not be the best thing you could have eaten, did you eat least enjoy it? Well, enjoy it before you figured the points? I've done that where I eat something, figure the points & get sick to my stomach over it.
